Oh, Charleston. One of the top wedding destination cities in the country. It has everything you want in a dream wedding – beaches, parks, spanish moss trees, stunning historic architecture, and perfect weather. It’s no surprise thousands of couples marry here every year!
When Chrysa and Nathan began planning their wedding in 2020, they weren’t sure where to begin. As they continued on in the planning process, they realized it was becoming less of what they envisioned for their day. They decided to switch things up and plan for a microwedding that consisted of their closest friends and family. From there on, wedding planning was a breeze and they became more and more excited for the day to come. With the help of Marissa Rice with Marissa Rice Events, their visions came to life! What I loved most about this day was how totally unique it was to them. They were married in Charleston, on the beach, late October, with a celestial theme, with Chrysa wearing a blue dress. It was so THEM and it was absolutely beautiful.
GETTING READY
Chrysa and Nathan went with an airbnb in Folly Beach, SC for their getting ready suites. It was perfect – in a quiet area only 6 minutes from the beach where they’d have their wedding ceremony, large enough to host them with all of their friends/wedding party, and full of amazing photo spots!
FIRST LOOK
We LOVE a first look. We decided to do it on the airbnb’s large porch. We made our way downstairs where there were lavish greens that made the perfect spot to share their vows and few intimate moments before heading to their ceremony.
CEREMONY
The location of their ceremony was located near The Wish Tree on Folly Beach, SC. What was great about this location was that guests were able to plug it into their GPS and be taken directly to the ceremony space rather than having to walk a good way to find it. This area also has a large parking lot, so easy parking access too!
For Chrysa and Nathan’s timeline, we decided to do ALL of the formals prior to their ceremony so that when they are officially announced, they can breathe and head straight to their reception to celebrate! I always recommend doing as many formals as we can before the ceremony so that the couple and guests can have more time for being together.
This is The Wishing Tree on Folly Beach in Charleston. It’s a tree that miraculously grew from the sands of the beach! 
RECEPTION
If you haven’t been to 5Church on Market Street, put it on your list. It’s everything!!! The ambiance is so chill, it’s beautifully designed, the food is incredible, and the service is amazing. It’s located right on Market Street in Charleston, SC so you are right in the middle of some of the best things the city has to offer!
For Chrysa and Nathan’s reception, we had the restaurant’s private dining room that hosted our group perfectly.
THE CITY
Another great thing about 5Church, as I mentioned previously, is its location. All of Chrysa and Nathan’s portraits were done just 1 block away from the restaurant! Right when you exit 5Church, the markets are directly across. It’s just a short walk to the US Custom House which is a freaking dream to see in person!
Charleston, SC has so many amazing options in planning your wedding. It caters to couples all over – no matter your budget or vision, the city has something for you.
