Fields at Skycrest | Wedding Venue Near Charlotte NC

We love it here in North Carolina. The weather is awesome – even in the winter you’ll see some days that are 70 degrees. We are on the coast, making it only a couple of hours of a drive to the nearest beach. These two things alone bring flocks of engaged couples eagerly in search of the perfect venue for their day. I don’t know about you, but a majority of couples (myself included) think of the “perfect” venue consisting of an amazing indoor space, bride & groom suites, inviting outdoor space, easy parking access, and away from city limits where there may be noise ordinances. In most cases, you’ll find yourself pulling up at a big, orangey-red, classic barn.

Now listen – there’s nothing wrong with that. But why not spruce it up? Rather than dark orange interiors and hay covered floors, think all white, clean, modern, and chic. That sounds nice, right? An upscale southern wedding venue.

Fields at Skycrest is exactly that. Let’s get into it!

GETTING READY SUITES

LIGHTING

Holy cow. The bridal suite here is every photographer’s DREAM! There is so much natural light that makes for beautiful, airy photos. This is perfect for hair and makeup artists as well in that they don’t have to bring along extra lighting in the event a venue lacks sufficient light. 

SPACE

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve shown up to a wedding where the girls are getting ready practically on top of each other. It’s difficult to navigate from a photographer’s perspective as there isn’t much space to walk through to get the good shots. Not to mention, there is usually a ton of stuff EVERYWHERE – makeup, clothes, hair supplies, etc scattered all around the room because there just isn’t anywhere else to put it. As you can see in the above photo, the room is CLEAN. There is ample counter space where your girls can get ready in peace and not have to worry about making a mess. This will be less stressful for you and also make your photos that much better. Nobody likes a messy room!

GROOM’S SUITE

Okay – a vibe. This room is masculinity without even having to try too hard. There is ample space, the décor is spot on, and is overall a relaxing atmosphere which is necessary for wedding days.

The groom’s suite is straight down the hall to the left from the bridal suite. This is convenient for everyone to have them nearby. The hallway leading here is perfect for some solo shots – see below!

OUTDOOR SPACE

It’s perfect. 
When you enter the venue, to your right you will be taken out to the covered patio that is ideal for ceremonies (if it rains, they’ve got you covered – literally), cocktail hour, or just a chill place for your guests to mingle. You’ll see below where it has been set for a ceremony. You can also host your ceremony anywhere on their 50 acre field.

For those colder nights, they have a huge fireplace that sits across from the ceremony space (and inside too) that’s perfect for photos.

THE FIELDS

The star of the show, if you ask me. It’s boho, beautiful, and vast. They take such great care of their space. As I mentioned above, your ceremony can be held out in the fields if you desire. It’s also perfect for the golden hour portraits! The venue owners have a shuttle which takes you & your partner out as far as you’d like for a few minutes of quiet and some amazing portraits.  

INDOOR SPACE

Okay I’m probably getting repetitive here but the reception space is perfect. It’s clean, open, and well-lit from the chandeliers and large windows lining the walls. It just screams modern to me.
What’s great about the size of the space is that you can accommodate 300+ guests in one place!!! It is so hard to find venues that can fit that many guests AND sit on an equal amount of land. It’s really a dream.

VENDORS

I can’t recommend these vendors enough. They were all apart of Jim & Presley’s day and made it perfect. 

If you loved the florals here, the venue owner also is a florist! You can double your booking when working with her for florals and your venue space!
